Description
Two pieces: a tray with its brass rest seated in the head, and the pen. The tray is 10 by 4 inches, hand-planed from kiln-dried black walnut out of a hardwood yard in Sedalia, Missouri, with a shallow well milled the length of it for keys, clips and change. A brass rest, turned and milled from solid bar, drops into a seat cut at the head of the tray and holds a pen at an angle you can pick up without looking down. The pen is the capped brass pen from our own line, packed with a spare refill. Walnut is finished in oil and wax only, with no film over the grain, and the underside is felted. Wipe the wood dry and re-oil once a year. The brass browns on its own.
