Description
The one built to ride on the outside of a pack. The back panel is a full sheet of harness leather with two web keepers stitched across it, so the case threads onto a set of compression straps and sits flat against the frame instead of swinging. Inside, 15 by 10.5 inches, three canvas dividers keep a folded sheet, a route card and a straightedge apart from each other. An outside pocket at the front takes a compass and a pencil. Charcoal wax on the duck, harness leather at every wear point, solid brass throughout. Empty it weighs 1 pound 4 ounces. Oil the back panel where the straps rub, since that is the first place it dries out.
