Juniper Candle Holder — I

Description

The smallest of the three juniper holders. It is turned from a straight offcut of dead-standing juniper that a firewood yard in the South Valley sets aside for us, so grain and colour vary from one to the next. A machined brass cup is seated in the top and takes a standard 7/8 inch taper. The base is 3 inches across and the holder stands 2 3/4 inches, low enough to sit under a hanging light without blocking it. Finish is pure tung oil, three coats, rubbed back between each. Juniper is oily on its own and asks for little. Lift spilled wax off cold with a thumbnail, then re-oil once a year. Packed and dispatched from Albuquerque within two business days.
