For composition and sketch books up to 7.5 by 10 inches. Instead of cords this one uses full-width interior flaps: the notebook’s own front and back covers slide into them, and the book is held flat and square with nothing crossing the page. There is a card slot inside the front flap. A wraparound strap closes over a solid brass post, so it stays shut in a pack. Made from 8 oz saddle leather dyed walnut, closed size roughly 8 by 10.5 inches, weighing about fourteen ounces empty. Heavy leather at this size holds a bow at first, and a week under something flat sorts that out. Condition the flaps, which take the abrasion as a book goes in and out.
