Description
The largest of the three, and the only one that is not round. Forty ounces held in a flat oval section 3.4 inches by 2.2, which sits against a hip or a pack panel instead of rolling off it. Height is 10 inches and empty weight 13.2 ounces. We tumble the welded body with ceramic media until the surface goes to an uneven dark grey, then fit a collar of 8-ounce harness leather from a Las Cruces tannery, wet-formed to the shoulder and stitched at one seam. The sling is the same hide, 1 inch wide, burnished on both edges. Wash the steel by hand. Keep the leather off a drying rack and give it a little neatsfoot oil once a year.
