An extension collar of the same waxed duck adds six inches of height above the drawstring, so a bag packed for two nights closes under the same storm flap as a bag packed for one. Twenty-two by fourteen by eight inches, about 32 liters flat and more with the collar up. Compression straps down both sides pull a light load tight against the back. Shoulder straps are bridle leather backed with wool felt, which is quieter under weight than webbing and does not hold water. Lined in cotton drill. Wipe it down, air it open, and re-wax the collar first, because it moves most.
