Description
Largest of the pocket three and the heaviest at 9.1 ounces. The case runs 2.05 inches across and 0.75 thick, which is more than a shirt pocket wants and about right for a jacket. A compass rose is cut into the lid before finishing, then the whole case is heated and hand-darkened to a deep brown so the engraving reads pale against it. Inside, a fluid-filled capsule carries a card graduated every degree over a sapphire pivot, and the lid catch thumbs open one-handed. The darkening is a chemical patina rather than a plating, so it thins at the corners where a hand rides. That is expected. Oil it to hold the colour, or let it wear back to brass.
