Description
Four slots, sized from a paring blade up to an eight-inch chef knife, stitched into a 5 oz waxed leather panel from a family tannery in Danville, Kentucky. Each slot is cut to a different width so a knife sits without rattling against its neighbour, and the stitch lines are backstitched at both ends where a spine pushes hardest. Open it measures 15 by 8 inches; rolled it makes a bundle about 3 inches across and ties with a single leather strap. Waxed leather sheds a splash and takes a scuff without showing much. Do not store blades in it wet, and keep it off a stove, since heat pulls the wax to the surface. A warm air gun brings the finish back if it dulls.
