Description
Twenty-three inches square and printed twice. The first block lays the ground motif, a broken chevron; the second drops a border band around all four sides, registered against the first by eye and by a pin mark in the corner. Cotton runs 4.1 ounces a yard, a step up in hand from the single-block square, so it holds a knot instead of cinching down to nothing. The hem is turned and topstitched, corners squared rather than rounded. Wide enough to cover the back of the neck under a hat brim through a long afternoon. Wash it cold and on its own the first time; the second pigment gives up a little colour before it settles.
