Ascend Supply Co. is an online shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We sell everyday-carry and camp goods in leather, brass, copper, wool, waxed canvas, enamel, cast iron, glazed stoneware and hardwood — 168 items between $19 and $828, chosen against one place: high-desert sun, grit, and thirty-degree swings between afternoon and midnight.
There is no shop to walk into.
It started with a belt
The shop began in a one-car garage off Griegos Road, north of downtown, with a secondhand stitching pony and a box of belt blanks. The first thing we sold was a replacement belt. The original had cracked through at the fold after two summers of sun, and cutting a new one from harness leather cost less than buying another that would fail the same way. That set the standard. Things fail here from ultraviolet, dust and temperature swing, so that is what we buy against first.
For a long stretch the operation was a bench, a shipping scale and Sunday mornings at the fairgrounds flea market, working out from old hardware what had lasted. We wrote to mills and small shops; we kept the ones who answered. Juniper and mesquite come from a South Valley firewood yard that sets straight offcuts aside for us.
A short list, and what we decline
We buy vegetable-tanned, harness, latigo and saddle leather, solid brass and machined copper, wool, waxed canvas, glazed stoneware, cast iron and dense hardwood. Each ages somewhere you can see it, and each can be brought back. Leather darkens. Brass goes brown, then green in the seams. Waxed canvas creases and takes wax again.
We decline coatings that hide the material, plating that flakes to a different colour, and assemblies glued shut. If a thing cannot be re-oiled, re-waxed, re-stitched or re-handled, we do not stock it.
We do not claim a factory. There is a bench in Albuquerque and a short list of jobs done on it: leather cut, stitched and burnished, canvas cut, sewn and waxed, stoneware thrown and glazed, juniper and walnut turned, wool blocked, books bound. Woven cloth, milled brass, cast iron and tanned hide come from the mills and makers we kept, and everything is inspected and packed here.

- No subscriptions and no recurring billing. Each order is charged once.

- USPS and UPS to the 50 US states and the District of Columbia. We do not ship internationally.
- Dispatch
- 0–2 business days from Albuquerque. Tracking is emailed when the label is made.
- Returns
