Description
One step up in size and a very different face. Where the first Chimayo scatters thin lines, this one carries a single terracotta band about nine inches deep straight through the middle of a cream ground. The Los Ojos weavers run it weft-faced, burying the warp entirely, so the colour reads as a solid block rather than a heather. The fringe is knotted in pairs at 4 inches instead of tied singly, which holds together better through repeated washing. 44 by 68 inches, 2 pounds 8 ounces. Fold it over the arm of a sofa or across the foot of a bed. Cold water only, mild soap, dried flat and out of the sun so the terracotta holds.
