A step up in size and in protection. The case runs 1 1/2 inches across and carries a hinged brass lid on a knuckle pivot, so the lens rides in a pocket with keys and does not come out crazed. A thumb catch on the rim releases it, and the lid holds anywhere past halfway before stopping flat. We polish this one bright, which makes the cardinal marks cut into the bezel easier to pick out at dusk. It weighs 2.3 ounces and hangs on a 1 1/4 inch split ring. The hinge is brass on a stainless pin and can be snugged with a jeweller’s driver if it ever loosens. Bright brass browns fast; polish it or let it go.
